KRISHNA JANAM BHUMI
The name means Lord Krishna's Birth(Janam) Land( Bhumi).
The place is one of the main pilgrim centers in Mathura and is believed that Lord Krishna was born here hence named as Lord Krishna Janma Bhoomi Hindu temple.
DWARKADHISH TEMPLE -The oldest and one of the famous temples in Mathura, Dwarkadhish is a holy structure that is dedicated to Dwarkadheesh Lord Krishna. The story behind the name Dwarkadhish is that Lord Krishna stayed here till his last breath . Dwarkadhish Temple is located near Gatashrama and Vishram Ghat . The entrance of the Dwarkadheesh Temple is adorned with an amazing architecture with an open courtyard in the center along with beautifully carved pillars and painted ceiling. The main attraction inside the temple compound is the golden coloured swing of Lord Dwarkadheesh.
GITA MANDIR - Gita Mandir also known as Birla Mandir, is located a few kilometers away from the city center towards Vrindavan. It has the carvings of Lord Krishna’s preaching to his disciple the Pandava Prince, Arjuna during the Kurukshetra War period. At the entrance of the temple, you can witness 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita inscribed on the pillars. Built with red sandstone, Gita Mandir displays a blend of Hindu and western style of architecture, where the holy idols of Lord Krishna, Narayana, Rama, Goddess Lakshmi, and Sita are placed. A large chariot inside the Gita Mandir, of Sri Krishna is also painted along with several paintings of Hindu Gods and Goddess on the marbled walls.
This temple is located at the lower end of the town near Keshi Ghat and is also called as Keshi Ghat temple in Vrindavan. The temple was constructed in Sambat 1684, i.e. 1627 A.D., during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir by the founder named as Non-Karan. The temple is built up of Red sandstone with its choir with the height of 25 square feets. Unlike other temples of Madan Mohan, Govind Dev and Gopinath, the Jugal Kishore is the only temple to have the original deity which is still worshipped in its original old temple in Vrindavan.
KESAVA DEO TEMPLE
Kesava Deo Temple is amongst one of the sacred Hindu religious places located near the main Krishna Janmabhoomi Complex in Mathura. This temple is blessed with the deity of Lord Krishna and is said that the original deity was first placed by Shri Bajranabh, the great grandson of Krishna. Kesava Deo Temple attracts many Hindu pilgrims mainly for the unusual festival ritual of Lathmar Holi. It takes place days before the actual Holi in the neighbouring towns of Barsana and Nandgaon near Mathura where thousands of Hindus and tourists get together to celebrate every year. Other festivals celebrated with joy and fun include Krishna Janmashtami and Chhappan Bhog. About 250 metres away you can also find another small shrine with a similar name . It is believed that this place has seen and felt Lord Krishna’s presence hence you can even see different images of Vasudeva, Devaki, and four-armed Krishna.
Shri Bankey Bihari ( Another name of Lord Krishna) Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, in the holy city of Vrindavan in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated near Shri Radha Vallabha Temple. Bankey Bihari Ji was originally worshipped at Nidhivan.
CHAMUNDA DEVI TEMPLE
Located right opposite of Maa Gayatri Tapobhumi, Chamunda Devi Temple in Mathura is one of the most important spiritual retreats to visit in India .
The temple is on the Chamunda Devi Marg in Mathura, and is one of the 51 shaktipeeth.
It is believed that a hair strand of Maa Gayatri fell on this spot. This event is also mentioned in the sacred text of Shrimad Bhagwat. It is also believed that Lord Krishna offered salvation to a python after which he went to seek blessings from Goddess. Chamunda here. The temple is also believed to be a meditation centre for Sage Shandilya and that Sri Gorakhnath also attained knowledge here.
ISKCON VRINDAVAN
Sri Krishna-Balaram Mandir or ISKCON Vrindavan is one of the major ISKCON temples in the world located in the holy city of Vrindavan.
ISKCON Vrindavan is an extremely beautiful temple managed by International society for Krishna consciousness.The temple is very big with divine and holy atmosphere with morning arati, kirtan, bhagavatam classes held for devotees.
There's a beautiful deity of Lord Krishna and Radharani at Krishna temple. One can hear the sound of bhajans with Hare Krishna devotees dancing.
The temple premises also has Swami Prabhupada’s samadhi built within a grand complex.
PREM MANDIR
Prem Mandir which means The Temple of Divine Love is a Hindu temple in Vrindavan . It is maintained by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, an international non-profit, educational, spiritual, charitable trust. The beautiful complex is on a 55-acre site on the outskirts of Vrindavan, and is dedicated to Lord Radha Krishna and Sita Ram, Radha Krishna on the first level and Sita Ram on the second level. The temple structure was established by the fifth Jagadguru, Kripalu Maharaj.
Musical Fountain at Prem Mandir
A striking feature at the temple is the musical fountain show which takes place every evening from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Devotees love to enjoy the spectacular sights of the water streaming out of the jet and then twisting and dancing to the kirtans that are sung in praise of the Almighty. The musical fountain at Prem Mandir with light and laser show at night lighting effects on the entire white marble temple is amazing and a must visit place when in Vrindavan.
BANSHI VAT OR VAMSHI VATA
Vamshi Vat is located on the Bank of Yamuna Ji on Parikrama Marg in Vrindavan and is near to Keshi Ghat.
This is the celebrated place where Lord Krishna in his form of Gopinath or Lord of Gopis performed the celebrated pastime of Maharas Dance on auspicious day of Sharad Purnima (full moon night). Banshi means flute and Vat means Banyan Tree. Thus the Banyan tree under which Shri Krishna plays his flute is known as Banshi Vat. On hearing the divine flute, the gopis became emotionally helpless and ran towards Banshi Vat. Here Lord Krishna plays the flute eternally. It is believed that if you meditate and think about Lord Krishna with your true deep heart under the tree you can hear the sound of flute.
Mathura is not only famous for temples but is also known for its ghats on the banks of river Yamuna.
GHATS
There are 25 ghats out of which Vishram Ghat which is close to Dwarkadhish Temple is considered the holiest. And a bath worship place .
Vishram Ghat is a bath and worship place, on the banks of river Yamuna at Mathura and is just near the well known Dwarkadhish Temple. It is the main ghat of 25 other ghats in Mathura.The traditional parikrama starts and ends at Vishram Ghat. It is believed that Lord Krishna rested at this place after killing the evil demon Kansa( Kansa was the king of Mathura city who was the maternal uncle of Sri Krishna).
KESI GHAT
Kesi Ghat in Vrindavan is one of the most important Ghats of Vrindavan and center of various types of activities. It is surrounded by majestic palaces located near Madan Mohan Temple and Chir Ghaton the banks of River Yamuna.
Kesi was the name of the demon horse killed by Lord Krishna.
Aarti is performed from 6 to 8 AM and from 6 to 8 PM in evenings. A grand ritualistic process takes at this place. Priests chant Mantra in a very exultant frame of mind with local people and Foreigners are equally allowed to participate at this place. There is no entry fee for the performance of Aarti at Kesi Ghat.
Kamsa, the maternal uncle and dreadful demon of Mathura tried many attempts to kill Lord Krishna. One of these attempts was to send Demon Kesi aur Kesi who was shaped like a Horse, to kill Krishna. Demon tried to kill Lord Krishna by attacking him but he failed and was killed by Lord Krishna. After this event Lord Krishna came to wash himself in River Yamuna. Since then, the place is called Kesi Ghat.

Food of Mathura
The most popular sweet of the town is prepared with milk . Peda, a form of sweet dish made from condensed milk, is a specialty of Mathura. If you are a street food lover then you must explore and try Kachori, Jalebi, Chaat, Panipuri, Samosa, Dhokla, Aloo tikki and Lassi. One can also find delicious typical North Indian platters as well.
Shops also sell handicrafts, incense and clothes at reasonable prices. Being a pilgrimage destination you will find a treasure of antiques made of brass and wood works are also reasonably priced in Vrindavan. Visit the Khadi Bhavan as it offers a wide range of Khadi fabrics and dress materials.

There are more options of Hotels in Mathura as compared to those in Vrindavan. If you want to experience the ancient spiritual side of Vrindavan, it's better to stay nearer to Banke Bihari Temple, which is closer to the old town.

Govardhana Hill, also called Mount Govardhana or Giri Raj which is a sacred Hindu site in Mathura, on an 8 km long hill located in the area of Govardhan and Radha Kund, which is about 21 kilometres from Vrindavan.
