CITY PALACE
On my first day I decided to visit the City palace of Udaipur which is on the banks of Lake Pichola.
Make sure you reach early. It's busy and can take more than 2 hrs( quiet long tour) to see the marvelous beauty of this place and its museum.Yes tiring but worth visiting and spending some time walking around.
The colorful Crystal gallery , The Peacock arches and doors with handcrafted jewels with a combination of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture will leave you spellbound.
The city palace museum explains how well maintained the Kingdom was and how they adjusted their lives with no technology. The history, culture , art and architecture, weapons, kitchens, utensils , living style of men and women, the jewelry and ornaments wore during the time of Mewar. The city palace has a magnificent architecture beautifully carved with bright colors. The Palace is just amazing. You also get a view of the city and surroundings with the view of lake Pichola as well.
The Sound and Light show is not to be missed if you have a chance. To help you get more information I suggest getting a guide who describes about the Mewar Dynasty and everything related.
LAKE PICHOLA
Artificial water lake named after the nearby Picholi village with amazing scenic views Lake Pichola is one of the most favourite places of Udaipur. Flanked by islands, palaces, temples, mansions, ghats and restaurants, Lake Pichola has four main islands namely Jag Niwas, Jag Mandir, Mohan Mandir and Arsi Vilas.
A trip to Lake Pichola is incomplete without a boat ride in the serene lake, especially during sunset.
I had such a great time while boating as I was able to view the Islands and the magnificent Taj Lake Palace and Hotel Lake Pichola. Something not to be missed when in Udaipur.
JAGMANDIR ISLAND
Enjoyed the ride looking around Taj lake palace on lake and Lake Pichola Hotel. Now was the time for some snacks.
Jagmandir Island is a great place with beautiful gardens , restaurants and outdoor sitting arrangements .
Boat trips leave roughly hourly from Rameshwar Ghat, within the City Palace complex and makes a stop at Jagmandir Island.
Here you can stay for as long as you like before taking a boat back.
You can have drinks , snacks with a garden and lovely views across the lake.
A hot cup of coffee with an amazing view of the lake, pics to capture moments this place is just perfect to spend time . I felt like spending all day but that was not possible and had to leave to explore the city.
One of the best evenings I had during my visit .
The day was tiring and a good night sleep was the only way to rest and relax.
JAGDISH TEMPLE
The next morning it was time for visiting Jagdish Temple.
Jagdish temple is a Hindu temple with a major monument in Udaipur devoted to Lord Vishnu . The beauty of this temple is it's three storied temple with carved pillar and two elephants at the entrance to welcome visitors.
Elephants and the sculpture with amazing art explains the history of the Mewar Dynasty.
SAHELIYON KI BARI
Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Courtyard or Garden of the Maidens) Located on the banks of Lake Fateh Sagar, is a famous garden built by Rana Sangram Singh.
It has beautiful garden with fountains ,a lotus pool and carved marble pavilions,
with an area or a particular space built for women. This is beautifully designed with perfection and was a Relaxing place for Royal ladies who used to stroll in the garden with their maids. The garden offers mesmerizing views of kiosks in the pool, lotus pond and rain fountains.
There is also a small museum with a huge collection of Royal Household items.
Enjoyed visiting the garden and had a good time.
Udaipur has great luxurious accommodations like Fateh Prakash Palace, Lake Pichola and Taj Lake Palace. You can also find some really nice comfortable Heritage Hotels like Jagat Niwas Palace.
My most favorite was an evening at Jagmandir Island and I am sure you too will enjoy visiting Udaipur.
